Who among us has not fought off the urge to aggressively edit the flagrant violations of spelling, grammar and clarity all around us? The New York Times recently posted a video story on one “vigilante copy editor” who gave in to his/her compulsion, “correcting grammar on placards in the sculpture garden of the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.”
Hear hear. And would that we all should make the world a better place for those who prize exact language like mathematicians prize exact numbers and formulas, like musicians prize exact notes and tempos…
